Fender Custom Shop LTD '59 Stratocaster Relic, Faded Aged Ocean Turquoise Overview

There’s nothing like a “Golden Age” Fender guitar. This Fender Custom Shop LTD '59 Stratocaster Relic in Faded Aged Ocean Turquoise authentically delivers the inviting played-in feel, characterfully aged aesthetic and beautiful tone of those sought-after instruments with the rock-solid reliability of a modern, pro-grade guitar. Boasting a top-notch spec that even the most discerning Strat fan will adore, this limited-edition Custom Shop is bound to impress.

Classic Feel & Sound

When it comes to '50s Stratocasters, there’s no doubting the Fender Custom Shop’s expertise on these hallowed and rare instruments. This particular Custom Shop uses a 1959 model, a guitar favoured by Buddy Holly, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, as its base. As you’d expect from a Fender Custom Shop guitar, this '59 Strat is crafted from the finest tonewoods available. At the heart of this guitar’s crisp and articulate voice is its classic combination of an Alder body and a Rift Sawn Maple neck. Tonally, Alder is renowned for its full, balanced tone with a slight upper-mid emphasis that gives it that distinctive Fender “snap”, whilst the Maple neck contributes a sweet brightness that promotes note separation.

The Custom Shop Strat’s two-piece Alder body features deeper contours, making the guitar lighter and more comfortable to play, and a gorgeous Super Faded Aged Shell Pink finish. The period-correct nitrocellulose finish enhances this '59 Strat’s resonance by allowing the wood to “breathe” and will develop a unique visual character over time.

The solid Maple neck is topped with a stunning AAA Dark Rosewood fretboard, which boasts a smooth, glass-like feel, and 21 Jumbo 6100 frets. Jumbo frets are known for providing easier playability when it comes to bending & vibrato as well as their tone & sustain-enhancing quality. The neck has been sculpted to a comfortable '60s Oval “C” neck profile is perfect for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. Whilst this '59 Strat has been given the Relic treatment, the neck back finish has the invitingly worn-in, satin feel of a Super Heavy model.

Gorgeous Worn-In Look

Giving this Fender Custom Shop '59 Stratocaster is its authentic “broken-in” look and feel is its Relic treatment. The Relic process gives this '59 Strat the endearing wear and tear of a vintage guitar that’s undergone decades of intense gigging and touring. From the carefully aged hardware to the exposed wood, this '59 Strat has the timeless appeal of a faithful workhorse guitar.

Huge Strat Tone

Electrifying this Custom Shop '59 Strat’s natural voice are a trio of Handwound Texas Special Stratocaster pickups. These fiery single-coils deliver the vibrant, articulate twang that you know and love with a hot, punchy output. With their mid-range bite, crisp highs and defined lows, these over-wound Texas Special pickups are perfect for hard-hitting styles.

Modern Reliability

As well as coming in at a more attractive price point than a '50s-made Fender Stratocaster, this 1959 Stratocaster benefits from the exacting craftsmanship of the Custom Shop’s world-class luthiers. The result is a guitar that features everything you love about a vintage Fender Stratocaster, with the dependability of a modern, professional-grade instrument. This is an old-school Strat that you can take on tour and count on night after night.

Featuring an eye-catching Faded Aged Ocean Turquoise finish, a buttery-smooth AAA Rosewood fretboard and red-hot hand-wound Texas Special pickups, this limited-run 1959 Custom Shop Stratocaster won’t stick around for long.
