Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Stratocaster, Journeyman Relic, White Blonde Overview
Fender Custom Shop Journeyman Relic Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster Overview by GAK:
The legendary Custom Shop Clapton Strat gets some new clothes! Eric Clapton's personal specs have been mirrored in this new Journeyman Relic Custom Shop Strat including his famous neck shape, noiseless pickups with active mid boost and blocked tremolo.
What differs between this model and the long-established existing Custom Shop model you will be familiar with is three things:
1) The use of Ash (as opposed to Alder) for the body wood. Early 50's Strats used Ash almost exclusively.
2) The use of rift-sawn (as opposed to flat-sawn) maple for the neck. Rift sawing is actually the strongest, most stable cut of wood possible (more so than flat or even quarter sawn) but is rarely used as is comparatively quite wasteful.
3) The use of nitrocellulose lacquer as opposed to urethane for the finish. And the nitro lacquer has the Journeyman Relic light ageing which makes it look and feel 'broken in' as if it has a good few years of solid gigging under its belt!
And of course the beautiful authentic 50's colours are new for this signature model! Includes deluxe fitted hardshell case.
A Fender Custom Shop instrument is as good as it gets. You know it when you play one—it’s filled with intangible, electrifying elements that adds a new dimension to your playing experience. It’s as if the instrument itself is imbued with history, and is as close as it gets to an original build Fender from the Golden Era.
The Custom Shop builders are completely dedicated to their art, they’re the best at what they do, and they pour all of their passion, hard-earned knowledge and skill into every instrument they build. It’s no ordinary place, and the creations that come from it are no ordinary instruments. Whether they're Teambuilt or Masterbuilt.
