Walrus Audio ARP-87 Multi-Function Delay Pedal Overview
The Walrus Audio APR-87 Multi-Function Delay Pedal is a feature-rich delay that has a large pallet of delay tones. It has four main algorithms: Digital, Analog, Lo-Fi, and Slap Back, so the Walrus Audio ARP-87 is great for letting you explore the world of echoes.
The Digital algorithm delivers crystal clear repeats that are great for rhythmic riffs. The Analog algorithm adds warmth and depth to chords and riffs, while the Lo-Fi algorithm has an adjustable frequency range on the repeats to go from warm and murky to straight AM radio. The Slap algorithm lets you dial in a great slapback echo effect. Other features include smart bypass switching and momentary knob ramp which provide infinite creative exploration.
The X knob works in different ways depending on which Algorithm setting you are using, adjusting a specific parameter in each algorithm. In the Digital, Analog, and Slap algorithms, the X knob controls modulation depth. In the Lo-fi algorithm, the X knob control Filter width.
When you change delay types, it loads a new algorithm so the tempo needs to be tapped in again. The maximum delay time is 1000ms.
The Walrus Audio ARP-87 can be used in trails or no trails mode. In trails mode, the delay trails die off naturally when you turn the pedal off. In no trails mode, the delay trails are abruptly cut off when you turn the pedal off. You can toggle between either mode by holding down the bypass switch for 1 second while applying power to the pedal.
By pressing and holding the Bypass Switch, you can temporarily activate the effect to add a moment of delay to your sound. When you release the switch, it turns the effect off. When the effect is on, you can press and hold the bypass switch to ramp the X parameter to maximum momentarily. By releasing the switch, it sets the X parameter back to the knob location.
