JHS Pedals Legends of Fuzz Crimson Pedal Overview
The JHS Crimson Pedal is part of the Legends of Fuzz Series, which replicate classic and historic fuzz pedal circuits, and put them in a wedge-shaped black metal casing with vintage-style knobs to give a classic old-school look.
The Crimson replicates the circuit of the very first Russian-made Red Army pedal, which was first created when the Electro-Harmonix founder wanted to recreate the classic Big Muff pedal back in the early 90s. It delivers a range of classic fuzz tones heard on records by The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr, delivering everything from a warm, smooth string-like sustain and detailed low-mids to crunchy chords, a punchy, focused high-mid range and a growling fuzz.
It has 3 straightforward controls - Volume, to control the output volume, Tone lets you brighten or darken your tone, and Distort controls the amount of distortion or fuzz. There’s also a red Mode button on the side that boosts the mids and increases the volume slightly to let you cut through the mix. This would be a great addition if you’re looking for a classic fuzz circuit in an affordable and compact unit.
