JHS Pedals Emperor V2 Chorus Pedal Overview

The Emperor V2 packs everything that was great about the original version into a smaller, more compact unit. The Emperor recreates the circuit of the rare Arion SCH-1 pedal, which is considered one of the best chorus pedals ever, so now you can get your hands on this at a much more affordable price. The Emperor V2 delivers warbling vibrato, shimmering chorus, icy sheen and a realistic rotary simulation. It also has a switchable true bypass and buffered switching, as well as mono and stereo outputs, making it a great addition to any pedalboard.

The Emperor V2 has a real 3207 bucket brigade chipset to get authentic vintage modulation effects. The Volume control clearly controls the output volume, the EQ control is flat at the noon position, so turning it clockwise will boost the highs and cut lows, and vice versa for anticlockwise, and is ideal for the wide, swirly sound of a chorus. Speed controls the time/speed of the modulation, Depth controls how deep or wet the modulation is, and there are two toggle switches, one to choose between Chorus/Vibrato and the other to choose between Sine, which is the smoothest, Triangle, which is a little choppier, and Square, which is the choppiest of the three which abruptly shifts the pitch.

It also has two footswitches - one for true bypass, and one for tap tempo. There’s a switch on the left side of the pedal that lets you switch between tap or expression mode for the TAP/EXP jack. It also has an internal buffer switch, letting you choose between true bypass and buffered bypass. As well as the on/off LED, there’s an LED that pulsates in time with the effect, a nice little addition making it easy to see where you’re at.
