Sequential Prophet-5 Synthesizer Keyboard Overview
The Sequential Prophet-5 Rev 4 isn’t a mere reissue, it’s the 4th revision and a successor to those sought-after synths. Sonically, it has the depth and organic timbre that you’d expect from a vintage Prophet and thanks to its modern features (including polyphonic Glide, MIDI & CV Connectivity and velocity/aftertouch) it can be easily integrated into a contemporary rig. As Dave Smith himself says, it’s “the best of all Prophet-5s”.
Premium Hardware
This is the Keyboard version of the Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4 and is the one we’d recommend going for if you’ve been lusting after a vintage P-5, as it nails the look, the interface and - most importantly - the sound. The P-5 Rev 4’s keyboard has been given a major upgrade. The ancient Pratt-Read J-wire keybeds have been replaced with a premium five-octave Fatar keybed, which boasts a fantastic semi-weighted action and velocity & aftertouch sensitivity. This keyboard allows you to use the P5 to its full expressive potential, as its sound engine has been designed to receive velocity and aftertouch. If you’re planning on using the Prophet-5 Rev 4 live, the convenience and all-in-one nature of the Keyboard version make it a superb choice.
If you require more notes than the P5’s 5-voice count can offer, check out the 10-voice variant.
Sequential have housed the Prophet 5 Rev4 in a chassis that combines a rugged, roadworthy steel case with gorgeous hand-oiled Black Walnut heartwood trim. It’s a beautiful instrument to behold, with a striking look to match its incredible legacy.
If you love vintage synthesizers and are looking to add an iconic analogue sound to your music, the Prophet-5 Rev4 is a fantastic choice. With its modern enhancements and expressive features, it presents a far more appealing prospect than a pricey and unreliable vintage unit.
