Martin 000CJR-10E Auditorium Electro Acoustic Overview

Martin guitars have a unique, piano-like tone revered by musicians and music lovers all over the world. The build quality and materials employed in the construction greatly contribute to the complexity and richness of the tone. Over time the company has found ways to offer the “Martin sound” and feel for a lesser price and accommodate the entry-level and intermediate player. Each series has a typical player and function in mind. This is accomplished by stripping down the features and cosmetics featured on Re-Imagined Standard series models, leaving the essential Martin guitar and giving you the classic and characteristic tone revered around the world.

The bracing pattern perfected by Martin and adopted throughout the industry was the famous X bracing. X bracing is characterised by a certain complexity of tone and delivers the strong, piano-like sound that helped define the steel-strung guitar in 20th-century music and still does today.

The Martin Junior is a smaller guitar. The scale length is ⅞ of a standard scale length with 14 frets clear of the body. Martin Junior models have a 24-inch scale length. The 000 shape is also to scale.

The top of the 000-CJR 10E is solid sitka spruce. Sitka spruce is the most common sprucewood in use today. Sitka is good for volume and will age nicely over the first four or five years of the guitar’s life, improving with time.

Travel guitars arrived during the nineties and have never left. The idea of a compact, scaled down instrument with a shorter scale length really embedded itself as a must-have item for guitar players. As well as being ideal for taking on holiday, many people like to have them as ‘sofa’ guitars, something lightweight and playable to strum in your downtime.

The cutaway has become a standard feature nowadays. They have been introduced in order to allow access to the higher frets. Since the advent of pickups it has been possible to get the requisite volume from the lighter strings on the upper frets and so cutaways have become more relevant to acoustic guitars. Most cutaways are ‘Venetian’, or soft as opposed to ‘Florentine’, sharp cutaways.

The nut width is a broad 1 and ¾ inches, allowing a little more space for fingering and picking. A 1 and ¾ nut width is important for fingerpickers who may prefer the wider string spacing for playing what are called rest strokes. The neck is a specific Junior neck with a high-performance taper.

X Series guitars are fitted with Fishman MX electronics. The MX system includes volume and tone controls on the preamp inside the soundhole of the guitar. This guitar also comes supplied with a durable and water-resistant gig bag with headstock, bridge, and endpin protectors to ensure that this guitar can be kept safe and dry whilst travelling.
