This limited-edition Fender Custom Shop '60 Precision Bass is a masterfully crafted ode to a rare and desirable instrument that has featured on so many classic recordings. The Fender Precision Bass, or P-Bass, was the first production solid-body bass guitar and revolutionised music upon its launch in 1951. With this particular model, the Fender Custom Shop have faithfully recreated a 1960 edition of the Precision Bass. Compared to a 1951 model, this 1960 version features the revised headstock shape & bridge, split-coil pickup and Stratocaster-style body contours that have become synonymous with the P-Bass.

The period-correct spec includes a contoured 2-piece Alder body, a solid Quarter Sawn Maple neck, a buttery-smooth AAA Rosewood fretboard, a comfortable '57 Soft “U” profile, Narrow Tall 6105 frets and a handwound '62 P-Bass “split-coil” pickup. The result is a bass that boasts the timeless charm, iconic tone and smooth playability of a landmark Fender instrument.

The Custom Shop have given this '60 P-Bass their Heavy Relic treatment, an intesive process which imparts the authentic worn-in wear of a battle-hardened vintage Fender. Featuring extensive finish checking, exposed wood, oxidised hardware and discoloured parts - this bass has been a faithful companion through countless gigs and performances over the decades.
