Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard, Metallic Gold Overview

Epiphone’s Slash Collection is a collaboration between the esteemed guitar company and the iconic player himself. This series is part of Epiphone’s premium Inspired by Gibson and presents a high-quality, more affordable alternative to the USA built versions.

Classic Tonewoods

The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard stays true to the legendary Les Paul formula at its core - a solid Mahogany body, a Mahogany neck and a Maple top. This beautiful tonewood combination delivers the juicy mids, warm lows & singing highs that you’ve come to expect from a great Gibson/Epiphone guitar. Another trademark Les Paul characteristic, sustain for days, is present and accounted for here, too.

A standout feature of the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard is the carved Maple cap, which boasts a stunning AAA Flame Maple veneer. Visual appointments that are exclusive to the Slash Collection include Slash’s signature on the truss rod cover and his famous “Skully” drawing on the rear of the headstock. This is certainly an instrument with its own identity that also looks as good as it sounds.

It’s So Easy (To Play)

Aside from its distinctive looks and tone, another aspect of this guitar that separates it from the pack is its Custom C-shape neck profile. This profile was specially selected by Slash for this guitar and sports a 50s-style medium to chunky feel that’s akin to a classic Les Paul. Alongside the smooth Indian Laurel fretboard, which is topped with 22 Medium Jumbo Frets, the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard allows you to execute crunchy riffs and elegant solos with ease.

Quality Pickups

Powering the Epiphone Slash LP Standard’s rich tone are a pair of top-notch Custom ProBucker humbuckers. These pickups are renowned for their crisp, articulate tone and transparent output that’s highly reminiscent of the original P.A.F. The 18% Nickel Silver construction of these pickups plays a big part in their golden-era sound, as it’s the same alloy that was used in the first humbuckers at Gibson’s Kalamazoo factory. The ProBuckers are also equipped with sand cast Alnico II magnets and are vacuum wave potted, guaranteeing a microphonic-free sound.

The quality CTS potentiometers and Orange Drop resistors promote a clean, pro-quality tone and will stand up to years of rigorous use.

True Workhorse

Rounding out the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard’s excellent spec are the Graph Tech nut, LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge & Stop Bar and Vintage Deluxe tuners. The rock-solid hardware primes this guitar for gigging and recording by ensuring ultra-stable tuning and spot-on intonation. Epiphone also provides their own Strap Locks, which prevent the strap from becoming dislodged when you’re in the midst of an intense performance, and a rugged custom hardshell case that keeps your guitar safe when you’re on the move.

Choose Your Illusion

Whilst all the models share the same Slash-approved spec, each one celebrates a certain Les Paul that the guitar hero favoured during his legendary career. This version is coated in a distinguished Metallic Gold finish, which is inspired by the Les Paul Goldtop which Slash used during the Use Your Illusion era - most notably on November Rain. Other finishes in the series include Vermillion Burst, Anaconda Burst, Appetite Burst and November Burst.

If you have an appetite for a well-made, versatile LP that’s perfect for playing in front of a church whilst a helicopter flies around you - the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard is definitely one to put on your list.
