Epiphone Masterbilt Advanced Jumbo AJ-45ME LTD, Vintage Sunburst Overview
The Epiphone AJ-45ME joins the Epiphone Masterbilt Family!
This is the Epiphone re-envisioning of the Gibson J-45 round shoulder dreadnought, a guitar that's been behind classics songs and artists in just about every genre. The original J-45 has always been of a workhorse instrument for rhythm guitarists and songwriters. Epiphone's new take on this Workhorse has earned a coveted "Mark of Excellence" from Guitar One magazine.
Originally released in June '31, the original line of Epiphone Masterbilt guitars made a big impact on players all over the world and was part of the first great era of acoustic gutars. Epiphone Masterbilt instruments are continuing this wave and carrying their well earned reputation around the world through to today.
The AJ-45ME electro-acoustic is made with all solid woods and features a satin-finish solid Sitka Spruce top. Supported by hand-scalloped Sitka Spruce braces for great tone the top is attached to a mahogany body and is set off by Mahogany kerfing along with a Rosewood bridge and bone saddle. The AJ-45ME has a mighty tone, and just like every good J-45 should it has solid, booming bass, and great mid-range projection. The solid mahogany is hand-shaped, has a 1-piece heel, and is attached to the body with a dovetail joint and hide glue, to keep things true to vintage specs.
Not only does the AJ-45ME sound truly great acoustically, thanks to Shadow's state-of-the-art Sonic preamp system with the revolutionary under-saddle NanoFlex low-impedance pickup, it really comes to life when you plug it in. Discretely mounted inside the sound hole - so it doesn't affect the vintage vibe - the Sonic preamp features an easy-access volume control with Treble and Bass EQ controls. The NanoFlex pickup senses both the vibrations of the strings and the movements of the soundboard simultaneously, so the sound is truly "acoustic", combining accurate body and string tone with percussive attack. It's like having a microphone mixed with an under-saddle pickup!
The Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-45ME electro features Epiphone's quality nickel hardware and stays in-tune thanks to the world famous Grover Sta-Tite machine heads with pro-level 18:1 tuning ratio.
