The Adam Audio A8X Active Studio Monitor is a unique model in the AX series, acting as all AX series speakers do as superb nearfield monitors, whilst also working efficiently as a midfield monitor thanks to its unique power and radiation characteristics.

The A8X features Adam’s own X-ART tweeter powered by a 50 Watt A/B tweeter amp, a bass/midrange driver with a 1.5" coil powered by a 150 Watt PWN amplifier and an enlarged forward-facing bass reflex ports. The result is a beefy maximum SPL of 120dB (per pair at 1M), with superbly clear transparent reproductions of higher frequencies, clear mids, punchy low end and brilliant transient response.

The Adam Audio A8X is fitted with the X-ART tweeter, handcrafted in Berlin the X-ART is constructed with a larger diaphragm surface (2.5 times bigger than a standard tweeter) giving it an advanced dynamic range. The X-ART is also designed with a folded diaphragm that prevents breakup, minimises distortion and gives the A8X an air velocity ratio of 4:1, providing detailed high range response and allowing you to push your levels without risk of affecting the clarity.

The fitted 8.5" woofer on the A8X is constructed using a super light and super strong combination of Carbon, Rohacell and Glass fibre, much like the X-ART tweeter, this attention to strength and structural stability allows the woofer's diaphragm to function smoothly at high sound levels and provide a great transient response. Coupled with the low-distortion PWN amplifier and the signal reproduction is flawless. Below the woofer, the enlarged bass reflex ports are capable of reproducing bass without the necessity of over compressing, providing deep clean bass signals and punchy expressions.

The A8X is a highly adaptable speaker too, thanks to the available tweeter gain adjustment and onboard low and high shelf filter, the A8X can be adjusted quickly and easily to be optimised for certain environmental acoustics and conditions.

Inputs include analogue XLR and RCA inputs optimised for balanced and unbalanced line signals, the front of the speaker also has a smooth action volume control knob with an adjacent on/off switch, accessible when the speakers are placed against surfaces. The cabinet itself has been shaped with an optimised geometry designed to reduce reflections whilst the speaker’s directionality works to reduce reflections on surfaces such as desks and consoles.
