Yamaha HS8 Active Studio Monitor, Black Overview
The second-generation of the Yamaha HS series combines the pristine, high-resolution sound that the monitors are renowned for with an innovative resonance-busting enclosure and upgraded transducers for a smoother response.
Serious Power
The Yamaha HS8 active studio monitor boasts the widest frequency range, headroom and power out of all the models in the HS series. This nearfield monitor is perfect for medium to large studio spaces and control rooms, especially those with some acoustic treatment. If you’re working in a small bedroom or project studio setup, the HS5 or the HS7 may be more suited to that environment.
Suited To Large Spaces
You likely won’t need a subwoofer if you’re running a pair of HS8 monitors, as the standalone low-end performance is so impressive - all the way down to 38Hz! Having a complete picture of all of your music’s frequencies, especially the bass, is key during mixing. The HS8 will convey exactly what’s going on with your lows, which will help you avoid overcompensating and crafting a muddy mix.
New Extension
If you’re working on electronic or bass-orientated genres where you have to “feel” those sub frequencies, want that extra level of control and have sympathetic neighbours, you can team the HS8 up with Yamaha’s dedicated HS8S subwoofer for a major low-end extension. Whilst you can pair up any compatible subwoofer to the HS8, the HS8S has been voiced to sonically match HS series monitors for the best performance.
Feature Presentation
Yamaha’s HS8 studio monitor delivers the flat, high-resolution sound and features which have made the series a best-seller, including versatile Room Control filters, multiple connectivity options and a brand new enclosure that prevents unwanted vibrations from colouring your audio.
The HS8 also comes in a striking White and as a Matched Pair for peak sonic performance.
Boasting truly exceptional audio performance at an affordable price, the Yamaha HS nearfield monitor series remains immensely popular amongst producers, engineers and artists alike.
- A low resonance enclosure built using a three-way mitre-joint technique ensures that the corners of the speaker are firmly anchored leading to dramatically improved durability and the elimination of unwanted resonances that can colour the original sound. Yamaha's 'Vortex Sound Control' technology is deployed to decrease unwanted airflows around the speaker ports. This in turn reduces audible noise by up to 6dB.
- This speakers is a 2-way bass-reflew bi-amplified nearfield studio monitor with 8" cone woofer and 1" dome tweeter
- 38Hz - 30kHz frequency response
- 75W LF plus 45W HF bi-amped system (120W total)
- ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM response controls
- XLR and TRS phone jack inputs - balanced or unbalanced
- What are they?
- This second generation of 'HS' nearfield reference monitors, like their predecessors, share the same design philosophy as the legendary NS-10M studio monitors. Providing accurate signal reproduction and superior sonic performance, the new HS Series consist of 3 new models
- - HS5, HS7 & HS8 - which employ a new, highly efficient tweeter providing an extended high frequency range up to 30kHz. The matching HS8S 150W powered subwoofer provides an extend bass when a well-defined bottom end is required.
