Yamaha Genos Digital Arranger Workstation Overview
Yamaha is back with a seriously impressive new Digital Workstation. On stage, in the studio or at home the Genos gives you all the tools you need to create, produce and play music. The Genos’ was constructed and designed to stand out on stage with not just the performer but also the audience in mind.
The first thing you will notice looking at the keyboard is the large, intuitive, LCD touch screen. It features an easy to use interface alongside a dashboard featuring 9 sliders, 6 knobs and 7 assignable buttons, perfect for the live musician who need easy access to their settings on stage.
The Genos is also a step up for Yamaha in terms of audio quality. Onboard you will find upgraded D/A converters alongside new digital outputs, providing you with crystal clear sound output.
If you’re an artist looking to record your compositions, Genos’ layering abilities are just the ticket, whether you’re looking to compose and build a full orchestra or are looking to build a song up from scratch. There is also a microphone connection on the back of the workstation, so it’s possible to record external sources.
With 60GB of memory, you’ll never run out of space for your ideas and there are also 3 USB slots on the unit that allow you to take your projects with you from studio to studio. The Genos benefits from the use of AWM sampling, producing rich and complex tones and with 1700 Yamaha voices in 550 styles (including pianos, synths and drum kits) you will never fail to find that perfect sound! There’s also a wide selection on the unit, from reverb to chorus, to delay and many more.
If you thought that was it when it comes to features, think again! One of the most exciting new features is the ‘Live Control,’ giving you real-time access to pitch and modulation adjustments and allowing you to tweak sounds on the fly. The new playlist function gives you the ability to keep all of your files on the unit organised and easy to find.
You will also find built-in WIFI and fantastic integration to Yamaha’s Songbook+ app on the unit.
