Sequential Prophet-10 Synthesizer Keyboard Overview
Sequential’s Prophet-10 Rev4 features the best aspects of all the Prophet revisions - the Rev1, Rev2 & Rev3. Sequential have made the Rev4 the best revision yet, combining the analogue Prophet sound with a host of modern enhancements such as velocity/aftertouch, a configurable Unison mode, polyphonic Glide and MIDI/CV connectivity.
10 Analog Voices
The original Prophet-5 came in two configurations - a 5-voice version and a 10-voice version which had two voice boards stacked on top of each other. The 10-voice Prophet was quickly recalled as its tuning would start to go berserk as the voice boards started to heat up and only a few examples of this synth remain. The Prophet 10 Rev 4 realises Dave Smith’s original vision for the iconic instrument, giving players the glorious experience of 10 rich analogue voices in a P5-sized chassis.
The Sequential Prophet-10 Rev4 is the ultimate iteration of this entry in the Prophet pantheon, as the additional voices mean you can pull off sprawling pads with lengthy releases and authentic electric piano patches without having to worry about voice stealing.
If you love the characteristic “Bette Davis Eyes” note stealing sound that only 5 voices can produce, don’t fret! As of Update 1.5.0, you can engage a 5 voice limit mode which effectively transforms the P-10 into a P-5. With the Prophet 10 in Poly Unison (PU2) mode, you can create a supercharged Prophet 5 that stacks 2 complete voices - that’s up to 4 VCOs per note.
Premium Hardware
The Keyboard of Sequential’s Prophet 10 Rev 4 features a premium five-octave Fatar keyboard, which is velocity and aftertouch sensitive. Not only does this semi-weighted keyboard feel great to play, its expressive capabilities allow you to use the P10’s velocity and aftertouch enabled sound engine to its full potential. This astounding synth has a classy, timeless aesthetic to match its sound, blending a hand-selected Black Walnut heartwood with road-ready steel construction. Each Prophet 10 Rev 4 has a unique look, as the colour and figure of the wood can vary significantly between each one.
If pure analogue goodness is what you’re looking for, the Sequential Prophet-10 Rev 4 is truly hard to beat. Whilst classic vintage synths can deliver a similar sonic experience, they’re more expensive & not as reliable or as easily integrated into a modern setup as the P-10 Rev4.
