"The JD-Xi is an interactive crossover synthesizer with both analog and digital sound engines that offers a huge amount of power (and fun) in a small and compact device. The JD-Xi gives you access to the best of both worlds when it comes to synthesizers; you can enjoy the warm and smooth sound of analog with the monophonic analog oscillator and filter section to create powerful bass and lead lines, then combine this with the 128-note polyphonic SuperNatural digital synth engine which creates lush pads and a huge variety of synthesizer sounds.

The JD-Xi allows you to combine 4 synth parts at once in a program: 2 polyphonic digital tones, a monophonic analog synth tone, and a drum part. Each of these parts offers extensive editing controls. If you are new to synthesis, you can use the quick front panel controls to sculpt and edit your sounds easily and learn about sound design in the process, and for the more advanced user, every synth parameter from filter envelopes to LFO’s can be edited in depth through the extensive menu system. The JD-Xi has an easy to use effects section which allows up to 4 effects to be used at once across your program.

The JD-Xi has a huge array of preset synth tones covering all genres and styles, and a wide selection of drum machine sounds too including iconic Roland kits like the TR-808 and TR-909.

Once you’ve chosen your tones you can create sequences of up to 64-steps by programming using the TR-REC style sequencer buttons, or alternatively just record your performance in real time. This is a great sketch tool for getting your sound ideas down.

The JD-Xi comes with a gooseneck microphone to use with its built-in vocoder. The vocoder allows you to manipulate the sound of your voice with different sounds like Robot voice and classic VP-330 tones effects whilst playing the keys. You can even use the auto-note mode to ‘sing’ your synth performance!

You can use the JD-Xi’s USB connection to connect to your computer to send MIDI and audio over USB to your computer, allowing you to take your ideas to the next level with your computer DAW. The JD-Xi really is everything you need to get started making electronic music all in one great sounding and portable box.

The Roland JD-Xi is the perfect synthesizer for those looking to find a one-product solution to cover all their needs. The JD-Xi does it all, whether it’s raspy pad sounds, soaring leads, gritty bass parts, punchy drums, iconic vocoding and true analogue warmth. You can even use the powerful onboard sequencer to piece together tunes and use the JD-Xi as a songwriting sketchpad.

The JD-Xi is made up of two different synth circuits, one being a hugely flexible digital 128-note polyphonic section and the other a monophonic analogue circuit, bursting with warmth and character. The Digital Synth is powered by Roland’s SuperNatural engine, offering a plethora of different synthesizer/instrument sounds, ranging from traditional keyboard classics, like Piano, E.Piano, Organs and strings, as well as a diverse range of synthesizer, special effects and drums. The JD-Xi is full of some of the most famous vintage Roland synthesizers, including the Juno-106, Jupiter-8, SH-101, TB-303 and Drum Machines, like the TR-808, TR-909, TR-606, TR-707, TR-727 and CR-78. This makes the JD-Xi ready to make any style of music you can think of, as well as ensuring your music reflects your own personality, as the front panel has numerous editing options and effects to customise your patches.

The JD-Xi is able to run x2 Digital parts, x1 Analogue and x1 Drum part simultaneously. This means all 4 sections can have a completely different sound assigned to it, with its own edits and even it’s own independent sequence, making it possible to stack/build up your own tracks. The sequencer is able to accommodate 64 steps, which is more than enough to sketch out your ideas. The sequence can even be transposed live, so any pattern that has been created can be played with one note - ideal for live musicians that want synth, but may not play the keyboard.

The JD-Xi comes fitted with a Gooseneck Mic, meaning it is primed and ready to be used as an intuitive Vocoder. Simply assign one of the Digital Parts to be a vocoder and you instantly have transformed your voice into a synthesizer. The tracking is incredibly impressive and the sounds cover everything from Robot, Ensemble and funky talkbox style sounds. The Auto-Note function allows singers that may not be able to play keys to still utilise the Vocoder, as when enabled, the JD-Xi can detect which note you are singing and use this to trigger the Vocoder engine.

The Roland JD-Xi seamlessly integrates with your studio setup, as the synthesizer has a built-in USB Audio/MIDI interface, meaning you can record the amazing synth sounds that are found within this little powerhouse and send them straight to your favourite DAW with just a USB cable.
