Roland HP-704 Digital Piano, Dark Rosewood Overview

The Roland HP704 is a premium upright Digital Piano that sits at the top of the HP Series. It pairs traditional sophistication with modern technologies, plus its footprint is smaller than an Acoustic Upright. Available in five different natural woodgrain finishes; Polished Ebony, Charcoal Black, Dark Rosewood, Light Oak and White, the HP704 is an elegant centrepiece for any home.

Unlike the Digital Pianos that sit below the HP704 in the Roland lineup, this model is the first that comes with a hybrid wooden action. The PHA-50 is a progressive hammer action, where each key has its own individual weight, getting lighter from left to right. This makes the keys feel the same weight as an acoustic, as each hammer within an acoustic piano has a different length and head sizes.

The PHA-50, much like the PHA-4 which features inside Roland’s more affordable Digital Pianos, features ivory feel keys and escapement. It also goes into even more detail, as the PHA-50 includes Ebony feel keys and stabilising pins.

The Ebony/Ivory feel keys have a specially designed composite core that is designed to replicate the texture of these materials. Each key has wooden side panels, giving the true aesthetic of an acoustic piano’s action, without the risk of warping, swelling or splitting. The robustness of the wooden keys, partnered with the stabilising pins prevent any unwanted sideways movement, which means the HP704 comes with a 10-year warranty.

The Roland HP704 is also the first Digital Piano in the range to use a technology named Acoustic Projection. Acoustic Projection splits the harmonic elements of the Piano sound across the x4 multispeaker system, projecting specific harmonics from different parts of the cabinet and frame. This dispersion of harmonic content is what gives an Acoustic Piano its character.

To further enhance the character of the HP704’s piano sound, Roland has used their groundbreaking SuperNATURAL Piano Modelling technology. This technology is all about making the playing experience more realistic, by including the most minute and finite details of an Acoustic’s sound. With SuperNATURAL Piano Modelling the sound of the HP704 is constantly evolving. The dynamic range, harmonic elements and tone of the HP704 blossoms from the moment you first strike a key to the point the sounds fade to silence.

There are 4 modelled piano sounds to choose from, including two variants of European and American Grands. These piano sounds can be customised to your specific preference internally or with the use of the Roland Piano Designer app.

Piano Designer gives the user the ability to adjust the most detailed components of the HP704’s modelled piano sounds. You can change everything from string resonance, damper resonance, key-off sound, cabinet material and many others. There are even key specific settings for tuning, tonal character and volume.

The HP704 also includes all the essential sounds required by the modern keyboard player.

With over 300 sounds to choose from, you can expect to find all the necessary sounds/instruments you may need to create music with. Choose between Pianos, Upright Pianos, E.Pianos, Organs, Strings, Guitars/Basses, Synth, Orchestral Woodwind/Brass/Percussion/Plucked Tones and even Drum Kits.

You can connect your Roland HP704 to your favourite Smart Device via Bluetooth, unlocking a world of useful features. By using Bluetooth MIDI, Roland has created an interactive experience for pianists.

The HP704 is compatible with both Third Party and dedicate Roland apps. You can trigger the sounds of softsynths, record MIDI notes to tablet-based recording software, integrate with educational apps and even play games.

The Roland HP704 can even stream audio through its internal speakers. This makes playing along to songs more fun and enjoyable, without a messy cable spoiling the traditional look of your elegant cabinet.

Pair your Roland HP704 with a Roland Piano Bench for maximum comfort and a matching colour scheme.
