Rickenbacker 330 Semi-Hollow, Mapleglo Overview

As part of arguably Rickenbacker’s most recognisable model range (the 300 series), the 330 has been a mainstay on the popular music circuit since its introduction in the late 1950’s, and is regularly associated with many key jangle-rock sounding guitar players from the 1960s and 1980s - including (amongst others) John Lennon, Paul Weller, Thom Yorke and Pete Townsend.

This particular Rickenbacker 330 is the 6-string model, and features a Maple body and neck, Rosewood fretboard (with dots), and has a lacquered Natural Mapleglo finish. Other appointments include the two High Output Rickenbacker single-coil pickups, R tailpiece, teardrop scratchplate, and that awesome Blend control knob.

Traditional Body

The Rickenbacker 330 has been constructed with the classic Twin Crescent cutaway shape that has been largely unchanged since the late 1950s. This lightweight, semi-hollow dual cutaway design makes for a comfortable playing experience and grants you full access across the whole fretboard range. The sound produced by these pickups is perfect for those musicians hoping to recreate the distinctive jangly tone that was prevalent in the 1960s and 1980s.

Exquisite Electronics

The dual single-coil pickups are reminiscent of the original Toaster pickups, with a higher output that’s well-suited to contemporary styles. Control-wise, there are Volume & Tone controls for each pickup and a Blend control knob.

The Blend knob has several different functions, such as acting as a tone blender between the pickups and as a general Bass & Treble EQ for the guitar. Its primary function is to perform as a volume equaliser for the bass pickup, boosting the usually quieter pickup to be of a comparatively equal volume to its treble-y counterpart.
