For SONAR (by Cakewalk/BandLab) this is a very good, budget, controller. To get into 'Sonar mode' is a simple, once-only, set-up. A coloured bar indicates which 8 tracks it is active with and each track is numbered. Press the track button and it jumps to controlling the next block of 8 tracks, it doesn't just move by a single track. I expected to have to use it's editor software or Sonars ACT to fine tune its operation but this has not been necessary. Response is good, sliders & rotary's are smooth. Only problem with jumping tracks is that the controllers are left set at whatever they where in the previous track block. But you will not get motorised sliders or endless rotary+LED knobs at this price point. To make up for this you do get a free software bundle which contains good soft-synths. Korg M1 plus UVI's DS1+DS77+ DS90s+DSX plus SI Instruments (which most Sonar users will probably have already). Do download the 'how to install' guides as authorisation routines are different. Some downloads are big (9Gb). So - it's a nice compact useful controller and a great software bundle. It's a bit of bargain.
