Since January 2018, Kali Audio have been using their wealth of technical expertise to create high-performance studio monitoring that won’t break the bank. The California-based company was founded on a deep passion for professional audio gear and engineering, which is reflected in the robust quality and forward-thinking design of all of their products. As a homage to their Californian roots, all their monitor series are named after town or city in the Sunshine State.
Through painstaking research and development, Kali Audio are making pro-level studio monitoring available for budget-conscious producers, engineers and artists. LP Series
The Lone Pine series is the most affordable entry point into the Kali Audio range. They’re 2-way powered monitors with a 1-inch tweeter that features a custom waveguide for a wider sweet spot and complete stereo image.
IN Series
The Independence series consists of 3-way nearfield monitors that are equipped with a tweeter and coaxial midrange. These speakers deliver ultra-precise imaging and high-output, accurate playback with no intermodulation distortion.
WS Series
The Watts series is Kali Audio’s subwoofer range. These impressive speakers pair perfectly with Kali’s monitors and let you know exactly what’s going on in those deep frequencies. Plus, they can handle both live and studio applications with ease.
MV Series
The Mountain View series contains accessories that enhance the functionality of Kali Audio’s loudspeakers, such as the MV-BT Bluetooth adapter which allows you to wirelessly stream high-quality audio to your speakers, console or interface.
Suitable For Any Space
All Kali Audio monitors feature intuitive customisation options that allow you to quickly and easily optimise them for your control room. These dip switches are paired with straightforward graphics that help you choose the right settings. Whether you prefer to mount your monitors on your desk, on the wall or on a stand, simply adjust the switches on the rear to get them to sound their best - no intricate knowledge of EQ or acoustics needed.
Innovative Front Port
Kali Audio’s unique front port is another result of extensive R&D and is a huge boon for small or bedroom studios where you need to place your monitors near a wall. This shape came about from running airflow simulations on a dedicated engineering laptop for four days straight. It fixes many of the issues that front-firing ports face, eliminates noise and lets you position your speakers anywhere in your studio space without worrying about unruly bass frequencies. The innovative waveguide design is another product of Kali Audio’s meticulous research process and ensures that the sound is spread out in an ideal way. This gives you a clear and detailed stereo image that you’d usually find on a much more expensive monitor.
Best-in-class Woofers
When it comes to their woofers, Kali Audio claim they use the largest magnets and voice coils in their class. By investing more resources than usual into their woofers, their monitors boast the same SPL (sound pressure level) with significantly lower distortion. No matter which Kali Audio studio monitor you go for, you can expect tight, punchy and uncompressed bass that doesn’t detract from the highs or the mids.
Customisable Response
Whilst Kali Audio have aimed to make their monitors as natural and accurate as possible to give you a true representation of your mix, they also understand some mixing engineers are used to a certain response from their monitoring rig. If you prefer a certain character of speaker with more or less bass, you can reach for the high and low-frequency controls to customise the response of the monitor to your personal taste. These controls are also handy if there are any problematic frequencies in your space that need to be compensated for.
