JHS Pedals Colour Box V2 Preamp Pedal Overview
The JHS Colour Box V2 replicates the sound of going ‘direct-in’ to a studio console and skipping the amp altogether, providing the studio-grade sound and character of a Neve console found in Abbey Road Studios, or other similar analogue mixing consoles. This classic ‘direct-in’ sound is found on songs by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles as well as more modern bands such as Muse and The War On Drugs who want to get that specific sound. It was almost impossible to get that exact tone for playing live until the Colour Box arrived. Version 2 of this pedal has a bunch of new features including phantom power, a larger EQ section and a high headroom switch.
There are 10 control knobs and 2 toggle switches, which give you a wide range of tones to get the exact sound you’re looking for. New for V4 is the EQ shift controls - Treble Shift, Mid Shift and Bass Shift which lets you accurately sculpt your frequencies, a Hi/Lo toggle switch for ultra-clean headroom, 48-volt phantom power, and an added output transformer.
The Colour Box V2 is your secret weapon for getting a range of tones, from vintage vibes to full-on overdrive, crunchy high-gain, and subtle low-gain sounds, and isn’t just for guitars, but also vocals, bass, keyboards, snares, synths, drum overheads and anything else that would benefit from a ‘direct-in’ feel, with a 100% clean signal and XLR slot for microphones. The Colour Box V2 is an extremely versatile piece of kit and a great price to get an otherwise impossible-to-achieve sound.
Runs on a standard 9V DC negative power supply (not included), and is not battery-powered.
