Perfect for hard rock and metal musicians looking for solid build-quality, visually striking design and high-octane tone.
If you’re looking for a guitar that can handle technically-demanding playing styles and plenty of distortion, you can’t go wrong with a Jackson-built guitar or bass. Their first guitar to bear the Jackson name was the Concorde, an iconic instrument that was created alongside legendary guitarist Randy Rhodes. The Concorde’s combination of eye-catching, angular aesthetics and red-hot Seymour Duncan pickups would set the stage for future Jackon Guitars creations to come.
Whether you’re a budding shredder or Marty Friedman himself, a hard rocker or an extended range Djent machine, a guitarist or a bassist - there’ll be a Jackson Guitar that’s perfect for you. Jackson guitars come in at a wide range of price points, from the affordable JS series all the way to the premium Pro Series. No matter what your budget is, you can find out what’s made Jackson Guitars one of the most enduring and popular guitar companies of all time. Plenty of renowned players have favoured Jackson Guitars over the years, including Phil Collen, Misha Mansoor, Nicole Papastavrou, Chris Broderick, Mick Thompson, Scott Ian and Jeff Loomis.
The Range:
Electric Guitars | Bass Guitars | Guitar Accessories
JS Series
The JS Series is the most affordable entry point into the Jackson Guitars world. These entry-level instruments deliver slick playability, aggressive tone and classic Jackson style at a price that’s accessible to both beginners looking for their first instrument and experienced players alike.
X Series
The mid-range X Series presents a vast range of body shapes and pickup configurations, making it suitable for the discerning player that has a better idea of what kind of style they want to play. Built with higher quality components and tonewoods in Jackson’s Indonesian factory, the X Series is a great choice for players looking for a top-notch instrument at an attainable pricepoint.
Pro Series
Jackson’s Pro Series is the step up from the X Series, offering upgraded appointments across the board such as pickups from Seymour Duncan and EMG. They’re the best instruments Jackson Guitars make outside of their American and Japanese-made ranges and are a more affordable alternative to those high-end models. Each Pro Series instrument is a professional-quality workhorse for the serious guitarist or bassist.
MJ Series
The MJ Series is a prime example of why Japanese craftsmanship is so renowned in the guitar world. If you choose a Jackson MJ Series, you’re guaranteed a truly exceptional guitar or bass. As these are top-tier instruments, you can expect only the finest tonewoods and materials to be used, including DiMarzio pickups and Gotoh hardware. This range calls back to the '90s, where imported Jackson guitars were exclusively manufactured in Japan.
USA Series
The USA Series is the pinnacle of what Jackson Guitars have to offer. These guitars harken back to Jackson’s roots as a bespoke custom shop for leading rock and metal guitarists of the era. Every USA Series guitar or bass is exclusively built to order and made in very limited numbers. From the bridge to the headstock, every aspect of these premium instruments has been meticulously crafted by Jackson’s best luthiers. Many of the guitars in this range are the top-line, US-made versions of their Artist Signature models.
Artist Signature
Artist Signature instruments are designed in collaboration with highly revered guitarists and are made to their exacting specifications. You can find Artist Signature guitars across all of Jackson’s ranges, from the JS to the USA series, making them accessible to a wide range of price points.
Jackson Guitars have been producing sleek, elegant and high-performance instruments since the 1980s. Their solid build-quality, visually striking design and high octane tone have made them immensely popular with hard rock and metal musicians for decades. The story of Jackson Guitars is connected to another icon in the world of rock and metal-oriented instruments - Charvel. Wayne Charvel created Charvel’s Guitar Repair in 1974, after working for Fender for three years. Whilst Charvel’s Guitar Repair quickly established a reputation among professional artists for the quality of their repair work, the shop would become known as a go-to place to have your guitar hot-rodded, upgraded and customised.
Grover Jackson, the founder of Jackson Guitars, began working for Charvel’s Guitar Repair in 1978. By November of that year, Wayne Charvel sold his stake in the company to Jackson, giving Jackson control over the Charvel name. Jackson would continue to grow the Charvel brand and lay the foundations for Jackon Guitars by building guitar bodies and necks for companies such as BC Rich and Music Man. The tooling experience and income that would come from creating these wood parts would set the stage for Charvel to begin creating their own instruments.
Charvel’s own guitars revamped the visuals, tone and playability of the classic Fender Stratocaster design. These high-performance “Super Strats” would fuse a Strat-style body with innovative appointments such as humbucking pickups and unfinished Maple necks. Combined with eye-catching finishes and graphics, Charvel guitars would become immensely popular amongst guitarists in the burgeoning hard rock and metal scene of the late '70s.
Jackson Guitars was founded in 1980 after Grover Jackson was approached by legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads to build him a unique guitar. The result would be the Concorde (later known as the Rhoads Model) - a radical update of Gibson’s Flying V and the first guitar to be built under the Jackson Guitars name. The Rhoads Model’s angular style and now-famous pointed headstock was a huge departure from the more conventional “Superstrat” shape that Charvel was known for. This led Jackson to put his own name on the headstock, in case the Rhoads Model’s design proved to be unpopular. Since then, Jackson Guitars would be the home of pointier, wilder designs such as the King V, Soloist, Dinky and the Kelly.
During the 1980s, Jackson Guitars were renowned as sleek, elegant and high-quality instruments. Their effortless playability, incendiary tone and bold designs would lead to them becoming favoured by many leading shredders in the era’s heavy metal scene. In 2002, Jackson Guitars and Charvel were bought by Fender. Today, Jackson’s USA-made guitars are lovingly crafted in Corona, California whilst more afforadble ranges such as the JS and X series are built in Indonesia and China.
