Ibanez RGD61ALA Axion Label, Midnight Tropical Rainforest Overview
This model is part of the RGD range, which has put an extra inch on the neck to make it 26.5 inches which compensates for down-tuning so you still get a rich, thick tone. It is also an Axion Label model, which uses ultra-modern and unique features and finishes. This model has an Ash body and a slim Nitro Wizard 5-piece Panga Panga and Walnut neck, with both woods being quite open grain. On top of this is a Macassar Ebony fretboard with 25 jumbo Sub Zero treated frets, which means the frets have been treated to make them more hard-wearing and durable, and less susceptible to moisture and temperature changes.
For pickups, it has a Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker Alnico pickup, which provides a full, round articulate voicing and a crisp humbucker voicing, and a Fluence Modern Humbucker Ceramic pickup which provides a tight bass voicing without the muddy tone, and a dynamic, high output with great distortion characteristics.
It also features off-set white dot inlays, which are either at the top edge or bottom edge of the fretboard, so when you’re playing lead at the higher frets you can see where you are easier. There’s also Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads, a mono-rail bridge, luminescent side dots for low-light conditions, and Schaller S-Locks strap lock pins to keep your strap in place. The look is completed with a Midnight Tropical Rainforest finish which is mostly black with a hint of colour at the top, making it subtle but unique.
