Ibanez ICTB721-BKF Iron Label 7-String, Black Flat Overview

The Ibanez ICTB721-BKF is a limited-edition 7-string that’s part of the Iron Label family. Ibanez’s Iron Label is a series of high-performance instruments that are primed for metal. Sporting the iconic Iceman body shape, a sleek Black Flat finish and bone-crushing DiMarzio D-Activator humbuckers, the Ibanez Ibanez ICTB721-BKF has a look to match its powerful tone.

Powerful Tone

At the heart of the Ibanez ICTB721’s commanding tone is the Okoume body. Okoume is highly sustainable tonewood that’s tonally akin to Mahogany, with a punchy mid-range response and defined low-end that’s great for metal genres.

To bring the ICTB721’s natural voice to life, Ibanez have equipped it with a pair of powerful DiMarzio D-Activator 7 humbuckers. With their D-Activator 7 pickups, DiMarzio have combined the clean, open and harmonically exciting sound of active humbuckers with the dynamic range of warmth of a passive design. You’ve got the best of both worlds and no batteries are required!

The clarity and power of the D-Activator 7 humbuckers allow them to take on tonnes of gain and keep the Low B string sounding tightly defined at high gain settings.

That’s not all, as DiMarzio have meticulously balanced the output of the neck and bridge so there’s no volume drop as you change between them.

Lightning Fast Playability

For a technically demanding genre such as metal, you need a guitar that can give you an advantage. Ibanez’s ICTB721 more than delivers in this respect, with its ultra-fast Wizard II-7 5pc Maple/Walnut neck, buttery smooth Ebony fretboard and 24 Jumbo frets. This neck is incredibly stable and features a 25.5" scale length so it’s ready to both withstand low tunings and temperature changes.

The Ebony fingerboard’s crisp tone, durability and quick response is a huge asset when it comes to playing crushing down-tuned riffs - there’s a reason why it’s the wood of choice for the high-end Iron Label guitars. When you need to execute intricate solos and expressive bends, the Ibanez ICTB721’s Jumbo frets make it a lot easier to pull them off.

If you like the feature-set of the Ibanez ICTB721-BKF and fancy an alternative look, the XPTB720-BKF is worth checking out as it features the classic Xiphos body shape.

Premium Hardware

When you’re in the midst of intense performance, you can count on the Ibanez XPTB720 to deliver rock-solid tuning stability and spot-on intonation. This is catered for by the fantastic hardware, which includes locking tuners, renowned Gotoh machine heads (with their precise action and minimal back lush) and Ibanez’s own Edge-Zero tremolo bridge (which features a comfortable low profile and a useful stud lock function).

Ibanez have kitted out the ICTB721 with top-notch hardware, ensuring precise intonation and rock-solid tuning stability during the most intense performances. The machine heads have been crafted by Gotoh, one of the most renowned names when it comes to tuners. The Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads boast super-smooth action and minimal back lush.

The Ibanez Mono-rail bridge is an Iron Label signature and features an innovative design that isolates each string for optimal vibration whilst providing equalised tension across all strings.

Not only are you receiving an incredible metal axe, you also receive a sturdy gig bag that’s made from robust materials. It’s a great way to safely transport your XPTB720 to your next recording session or live performance.

In addition to an astounding metal machine, you’re also receiving a hardy gig bag that’s made from sturdy materials. It’s very handy if you need a way to safely transport your ICTB721 to your next gig or recording session.

If you’re in the market for a premium seven-string guitar with a sophisticated aesthetic, rapid playability and a truly brutal tone - we highly recommend picking up the Ibanez ICTB721-BKF.
