Mahogany is a staple Gibson tonewood that’s renowned for its smooth highs, punchy mid-range and ample sustain. The Mahogany neck is capped with a glass-like Ebony fretboard, which enhances note definition and feels exceptional under the fingers. Topping the neck are 24 Jumbo frets. As well as making expressive string bends and vibrato a breeze, these larger frets also improve sustain. Intricate “spider chord” riffs and wild leads are catered for by the SlimTaper neck profile and compound radius fingerboard, which gradually flattens out as you climb the neck for effortless soloing.

Seymour Duncan Pickups

Gibson have equipped the Dave Mustaine Flying V with the Megadeth mastermind’s signature Thrash Factor humbucker set. This high-output, passive set is based on the pickups in the guitar Mustaine favoured during the recording of Rust In Peace. The bridge pickup is a recreation of Mustaine’s favourite Seymour Duncan JB. Compared to an off-the-shelf model, this one features a tighter low-end, slightly scooped mids and more aggressive highs. The neck is Mustaine’s favourite neck pickup, the '59 Model SH-1, which offers a warm tone that’s inspired by the legendary Seth Lover P.A.F.
