Evans EMAD Clear Bass Drum Head 16in, BD16EMAD Overview

Fast bass damping adjustment without head removal!

The Evans Adjustable Dampening EMAD Bass Drum Head comes with 2 damping rings, each of which affects the head's sound and pedal response. EMAD stands for Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping and this external system maximizes natural attack characteristics. It offers tremendous dynamic range (even at low dynamic levels where other systems fall short). It also allows quick, easy adjustments without having to remove the head from the drum an especially valuable feature during recording sessions.

If you're recording bass drums, the EMAD will make your life easier. Order today!

Evans EMAD series features a 10mil of single-ply film providing an ideal balance of punch, power and low-end. The unparalleled industry standard Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD) system allows the player to adjust attack and focus.

For over 40 years, Evans has been a pioneer of drum head manufacturing and design. Known for innovative designs such as EMAD, EC2S, and the Hydraulic series, Evans drum heads are made in the USA in a state of the art manufacturing facility. Acquired in 1996 by D'Addario and Company, the global leader in musical instrument accessories, the Evans brand is synonymous with quality and consistency.

I like the Evans EMAD head very much. However, for some reason, which no one has yet explained, the 16 inch head is approximately 2 mm greater in diameter than the other heads, also from Evans, which I have had on this bass drum shell. The larger diameter causes problems in seating it correctly on the shell. I'm having to have the bass drum hoop modified to accommodate this. Apart from that. I like it

Make sure you know which head to get. There is a Tom Hoop version of this head, so be aware when purchasing for a converted floor Tom. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong one but I was able to return this with ease.
