Epiphone Casino, Vintage Sunburst Overview
The Epiphone Casino has been world-famous ever since the Beatles purchased three of them back in '64. Since then, this fully hollow guitar has taken on a life of its own. Equipped with two vintage-styled P-90 single-coil pickups, the Casino still delivers those amazing tones at a price every player can afford. When it was originally introduced in '61 the Casino was an Epiphone breakthrough. Epiphone merged with Gibson in '57 and shortly after moved away from building larger archtops. There was a lot of new music on the scent and Epiphone needed a modern guitar to suit it. With the Casino, Epiphone managed to create this modern instrument. At a distance, it looked like a 335, but it was a true hollow body and had a clear and sonorous tone that responded perfectly when pushed a little. Since then it's made its voice heard on numerous landmark recordings, not least of which include The Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds.
The current Casino is made with a select maple body and top with F-holes, trapeze bridge, mahogany neck (24.75" scale), neck and body binding, two volume and two tone controls, and parallelogram inlays.
